O a born in need that humans have: there is some need for self esteem but it doesn"t capture most people"s agreement gets tied into some other need that is actually wired in. Not me: social cognitive approach, to assess implicit processes, in part of the reason people did not believe this at first was because most are not aware of being obsessed with the thoughts of death. It was proposed that this was something that drives us all day long: are these things going on unconsciously even though we are unaware of it. Use a subliminal prime to see if this is the case: further explorations, accessibility, subliminal primes of death vs. field , other subjects did the normal mortality salience manipulation, pro-us bias. Subliminal death: 2. 63: did not replicate with a subliminal pain prime. They used a subliminal prime for the word pain and it did not have the same effect. Presumably, this allows for other coping responses.
