Sociology is the systematic study of society and social interaction. Society is a group of people whose members interact, reside in a definable area, and share a culture. Many sociologists prefer to say sociology is the scientific study of social relations. Culture refers to the groups shared practices, values, and beliefs way of life. Often studied using the sociological imagination, an awareness of the relationship between a person"s behaviour and experience and the wider culture that shaped the person"s choices and perceptions (c. wright mills) Sociology takes a broad view other disciplines take a limited view,but sociology analyzes all types and aspects of social relations. Gives a different perspective able to see how all types of social relations are interrelated and influential. Disables depth other social sciences may be able to explore. Personal decisions an individual makes are influenced by cultural patterns and social forces.
