People thought with globalization and contact with different ethnic groups; symbols would no longer be practiced by just in group by also products for assumption (tourisms) When look at meaning for ethnic group for people: ethnic membership important. Ethnicity no longer matter if people share all beliefs and come together to be one group. Interethnic interaction (via globalization) was supposed to end salience of ethnicity. Traditional dress, customs, and rituals - products for tourism, mass consumption. But ethnic membership remain important; ethnic group still basis for collective life. Ethnic groups defined by their boundaries, not by their content (culture) Boundaries - socially constructed criteria of group membership. Way we think of ethnicity is all wrong. Ethnic groups are not defined by these context and tangible aspects of group membership. Boundaries are social and not actual physical or territorial boundaries.
