One of the reasons why misogyny and concepts of women lasted so long was because of the cultural world and world in general was dominated by men. Men did most of the writing and then there was philosophical concepts that were brought forward to make arguments about the nature of women. In the middle ages, women were not educated and often they were illiterate. Once women did get an education sufficient enough to be able to write and an education in latin to give them access to high culture, they attempted to fight misogynist ideas. Hildegarde was a visionary woman who started having visions about god and women when she was very young.
