Expectations of permanence: historically, marriage has been a very practical institution. People really had to marry in the past. You needed children because they were a financial asset for you: the long standing expectation was that marriage would be forever, and it was permanent, (cid:862)this is fore(cid:448)er, it is a fi(cid:454)ed state. (cid:863) Expectations of primariness: this really means keeping the other person in your life from the center as the most important person in your life marriage partner, meaning being faithful to sexual deeds.
