2007: government gave a budget of 100 million dollars to create this commission. The mhcc is funded by health canada and has a 10-year mandate (2007-2017). To be a catalyst: mhcc is a catalyst for system and social change that leads to improved mental health for canadian change that leads to improved mental health for canadians. To collaborate: the mhcc collaborates and partners with people and organization that have a role to play in transforming to mental health system to accelerate change. One person in give in canada will experience a mental health problem or illness in a given year. People in their early working years are most affected. Also you lose money because you have less working opportunities, or you miss work because of your mental health problem.
