Cephalocaudal (from head to toe): the growth occurs from head downward: what grow fastest: Head (fetal stage) trunk (1st year) hips, legs, and feet (later in childhood: proximodistal: the growth also occurs from inward to outward. Trunk, then arms and legs, then hands and feet.
