Archaeologists are now framing gender-related questions, taking advantage of an emerging body of feminist theory in other disciplines. Gender: the socially and culturally constructed: vital part of human social relations and a central issue in the study of ancient human societies, expressions of gender vary from culture to culture. Archeology of gender: deals with the ideology of gender, with roles and gender relations the ways in which gender intersects with all aspects of human social life. Engendered archaeology: use a wide diversity of archaeological methods and approaches to find out how gender worked in ancient societies, to unravel its cultural meanings. To engender the past means to focus not only on major achievements such as metallurgy or pot making or on ancient environments, but also on interpersonal relations and the social dynamics of everyday activity.
