Anthropology 1aa3: when and where did the first. There are approx 190 species of non-human privates. Humans are one of many branches of primates! Primatology is branch of biological/physical anthropology and they study present day primates ! You can see how primates are broken down! You have 3 different types of primates: you have prosimians, moneys & apes! Monkeys & apes belong to anthropoids ! Differences: monkey have tails, apes do not (they are generally larger in terms of apes, and have capacity for walking; more upright posture) ! All these diff critters cannot be easily identi ed by few traits ! Evolutionary trends: patterns that are unique to primates! These are the diff forms of locomotions! Most primates are not completely bipedal ! Many primates have ability to walk on two feet but they get tired so switch to other one! It"s only apes and humans that have it !
