Point of that reading is how she talks about how female bosses are often less direct in terms of directions to employees, less argumentative, less authoritative, nicer ! Those are all attributes that go against patriarch expectations ! A lot of male employees would come back from a meeting with female boss and would be confused! Female bosses would be labeled as bad bosses, because they didn"t understand the gendered communication; employees called it less skilled/equipped! Our concepts are formed by masculinity when it comes with positions of male authorities; so male conversation styles are the norm so everything else gets labeled as strange/deviant! This causes verbal gender inequalities in the workplace ! We are socially less attuned to think that language is gendered ! Our gender constructs in uence how we view the world and how we represent the world! Recall gender constructs in our society (based on stereotypes)
