Although this is very stereotypical, you can see how anthropology differs from any other disciplines concerned with humans. Anthropologists are concerned explicitly with all varieties of people throughout the world, not just with their own culture and time period. What is anthropology engaging with humans and human difference. Anthropology is concerned with the unity and diversity of humanity and of human culture and society. The most scientific of the humanities and the most humanistic of the societies. Traditionally, anthropologists were only concerned with non-western cultures and left the western civilization to other disciplines. The western cultures was the natural culture and was the greatest culture and everything else was gaged in reference to the west. However, the west is not natural and we have our own culture and customs too. The west also needs to be critically understood. They believed that knowledge over the people meant power of the people.
