Prokaryotic cells have been around for the longest time with eukaryotic cells only appearing about. Eukaryotes have different structural features, like a defined nucleus, membrane bound organelles, having the ability to be multicellular. Prokaryotes are generally unicellular (archaea, bacteria) aside from being small, the ability to have a devoid nuclear envelope (more so a nucleoid region) and no membrane bound organelles.
