Prey upon humans (vampires prey upon human blood specifically and zombies upon human flesh) Like witches are often scapegoats for social or individual crises or problems. Liminality, in terms of vampires, refers to that they don"t fit into our modern classification. Strict criteria as to what constitutes as living and dead. Culture of classification where we"re obsessed with classifying things as dead or living, and anything that doesn"t fit in our classification is threatening and gives us stress. Vampires are occurring during times of stress usually experienced by entire community or village of people. Vampiric entities appear in a variety of cultures. Vampire blaming is often a means of scapegoatism in much the same way as accusations of witchcraft. Romania women accused if they failed to perform traditional women"s roles .
