Peggy macintosh: believed whites get greater access to politics & basic everyday things (hair products, bandaids, have things changed? published in 1989, no not in a micro sense, yes in a law sense. Are the top of the social hierarchy of appropriate citizenship & are afforded more privileges. Ex: stephen harper old stock canadians: true, authentic canadians not refugees & immigrants, they are less canadian. France- how people view citizenship (guest lecture), question citizenship based on race. Top of social hierarchy for being white. No plurality of identities, you are french first. Secularism separate religion from public life (laws to not wear religious symbols to work) Historically roman catholic but increasing rate of secularism. Eva mackey: hierarchies of canadianess: canadian law & dominant culture is predicted upon white euro-canadian values & aesthetics, this is called canadian-canadian culture she found after doing research (similar to old stock canadian) They speak spanish so language barrier & will drop out at 16 .
