Cultural behavioural influences on group structure, kin relationships: mutations & selection, environmental adaptions. Occurs at genomic level but acts on phenotypes. Human selection and adaption: what traits experienced selection after separation of homo sapiens as species. Environmental adaptions of amh [anatomically mod humans] populations as they colonized different environment of the world. Skin colour, cooking meat, teeth, hair, posture and height (access to food and health care), island dwarfism. How do we distinguish what was actually experiencing selection from effects of the other forces of evolution. Positive selection recent in time sweeping through time. Balancing selection longer coalescent (remains in populations for longer) Species wide selection: changes that occurred before the development of anatomically mod humans shared by all mod humans. Local selection: changes that have arisen in only a subset of human populations and must be environmentally driven.
