The black death from 1347 to 1700: 3. Modern plague: the third pandemic, major issues in mongolia and china. It also advanced along muslim trade routes in africa and middle east. A new disease in 1347: the cause was unknown at the time, and it spread in unpredictable ways. It missed some towns on highways, houses along single street, some individauls within affected households: at the time, it was an idea as a new disease. Other responses: most people tried to flee (only place to go was the country but where would you stay there) Isolation of sick (sometimes locked in houses: quarantine ships must stay in harbour 40 days before landing people/ cargo, less movement between twons, greater fear of strangers. Island outside fo venice boats were sent there and nobody was allowed to get off for. If the plague doctor came and the person still died, then they were seemed as if they were at fault.
