Where youth grows pale, and spectre-thin and dies . Different views of disease, and disease process, co-exist. The way a disease is conceptualized and defined medically influences public policy. Produces small amounts of toxin (1) evades immune response (2) survives and persists within body > highly persistent, chronic infection (3) retains potential for reactivation if body"s immune system weakens (4) infection can proceed to disease at any point. Mainly transmitted by droplet nuclei requires close somewhat long-term active contact. Perceived as being a less infective disease, however some people do not show symptoms. Acquired from, and transmitted to, other animals, e. g. cattle, dogs. Mycobacterium bovis (from cows): foodborne via infected meat, milk. # species of mycobacteria lead to tuberculosis in humans. Spreads via lymphatic and blood systems to other sites. Can be similar to flu or common cold. Skeletal evidence may show spinal lesions and kyphosis, usually in lower back pott"s.
