But no logs or maps made automatically: experienced technician, magnetometry, ground penetrating radar (gpr) Subsurface survey techniques: large sites: heavy equipment (backhoe) When you find something during the search : contact the medico-legal authority (police, coroner, etc, secure the scene, once the authorities have been notified and approvals have been granted, make a plan for recovery. Phase 3: recovery: preservation, recovery, and documentation of, human remains, artifacts and ecofacts, burial features, carefully document every stage of this process (field notes, photography, maps, goal to reconstruct the circumstances surrounding, death, deposition, taphonomic modifications. January 25, 2019: the minute you remove something, the context and spatial relationships are permanently lost, must document everything as you go. Excavation: slow, systematic and careful recovery of buried remains, trowels, brushes, etc.
