Players have a lot of padding, elaborate headgear- iconography of heads of different animals. Pyramids for tombs continue w mayan culture in diff areas. Chacmool- statue in foreground, part of complex, found w other pyramids. Always in sitting position, head turned over shoulder, hands in lap (probably for a donation or sacrifice) Central america, this culture lasted longer than others (mayan?) although it was not as hierarchical. Intent was to cause fear w this pendant bc gold was captured from the sun (could be worn on neck) Holding a drum in right hand, snake in left, holding snake tail in teeth. Headgear has birds tails down to shoulders. Belt around waist w snake head- could be a costume of a shaman.
