Full text of the biblical book of revelations. Published on the verso (backside) of the prints. Tells of the destruction of christ"s kingdom on earth. Two editions of his book, one in german and one in latin to make his work more accessible. His intended audience were humanists and ecclesiastics but also the broader public. Images were meant to take precedence, and weren"t just illustrations. Up to the year 1500, there was fear that the world would end and judgement day would come. Movement away from the power of the roman catholic church.
