Reasons why we see these in so many different rock arts around the world. San rock art comes from the very southern tip of africa. Have some of the oldest mitochondrial dna. Origins of hominids and homo sapiens in africa. Probably the oldest rock art in existence. For a long time, intense dif culty in understanding rock art. Reason: rock art looked primitive, associated it with primitive thinking, assumed primitive thinking couldn"t be interesting or profound. Primitive: simple-minded, like chalk drawings on the sidewalk. Because some rock art has been visible, we"ve had knowledge that rock art exists for a very long time, but couldn"t gure out where it came from or what it meant.
