The body is at the centre of sappho"s work. Frost immigrated to thunder bay at 14 - didn"t know body shops were for cars, but there was also an illegal bawdy shop (prostitution ring). Something about the body brings out the chaotic. Laughter is wonderful, the body can be a source of pleasure in laughter. The body and bawdiness of the body are wonderful. Laughter is not the only delight of the body: Breezes that feel gentle as honey - putting a language to the delicate senses we experiences. Sappho looks at her beloved laughing and irting with a man. This tears sappho apart - she never questions whether her beloved loves the man, she knows (29). The body produces delights but also trauma purely from emotion and lovesickness. This can happen without the person causing it know that they are doing it - this is almost unforgivable.
