Seeing is deceiving: rock art and the non-visual: sven ouzman. Pictograph: organized symbolic structure (no swimming, washroom signs). Petroglyph: rock art, carved into the rock, not painted on top. We have trouble understanding rock art because of our modern mindset. Helps illustrate changes between early mindset and the modern mindset. Part of the problem is looking closely - we look closely but we don"t use our other senses as closely. Like those who took off their glasses during the media detox, the eyes are so dominant today that it grasps and takes control of any tasks immediately. The world today is not any different than it was in the times of these people. Just, today we are not as good at grasping holistic elements of knowledge.
