Hwe: estimated expected genotype frequencies from allele frequencies. Estimating allele frequencies from phenotype frequencies under the assumption of hwe. Evolution by natural selection is not goal directed. Adaptations do not occur because organisms want or need them. Branches on tree of life represent populations though time. All species have evolved from a common ancestor; none is higher/lower than any other. Genome size does not a ect complexity either (largest genome is amoeba) Myth: animal behaviour is sel ess and is for the good of the species. Individuals with self-sacri cing alleles die and do not produce o spring. Individuals with sel sh alleles survive and produce o spring. As a result sel sh alleles increase in frequency while self-sacri cing decrease in frequency. Kin selection: i would lay down my life for two brothers or eight cousins jbs haldane. Myth: natural selection results in most optimal phenotype.
