Document Summary

In people that have type 2 diabetes they still take insulin. If you keep taking insulin the cells will become more and more resistant over time. The initial way of dealing with the disease is through diet and exercise before you start taking injections. There is no cure for type 2 diabetes. Its really hard to do studies of women with this type of diabetes. Happens in late sage pregnancy- third trimester usually. Not as common as the other forms of diabetes. When it occurs it can be harmful to the fetus and for this reason there is no experimentation done- you don"t want to harm the fetus. The common features are glucose intolerance and insulin resistance so blood glucose levels are improperly regulated. Probably a response to changes in hormones due to pregnancy - not caused by the same things as other types of diabetes. More common in women who are over weight.
