BIOLOGY 2B03 Lecture Notes - Lecture 55: Macrophage, Endothelium, Lysis
Document Summary
Lecture 1: cell adhesion molecules development requires: repeated mitoic divisions to produce muliple cells, cell difereniaion that deine issue-speciic paters of gene expression, signalling between cells, associaion between cells, maintaining connecions between cells. Embryogenesis: creaion of inner cell mass that divides and separates into the endoderm, mesoderm, and ectoderm which then difereniates into diferent parts of the body. Wilson experiment: cells from two diferent sponge species were isolated using a ine mesh and then mixed together cells from same species able to recognize & associate back together. Johannes holfreter experiment: mixed cells from diferent germ layers in a frog embryo cells from same issues recognized and associated each other in a way that mimicked original embryo. 4 types of juncions on lateral surfaces in epithelial cells: Epithelial sheets: made from epithelial cells connected to one another along lateral surfaces. Basal surface: anchored to extracellular structures that provide underlying structure to sheet of cells (includes basal membrane)
