Ba = period following development & use of bronze, the primary metal used. A way of conceptually identifying broad culture developments using technological. Bronze age is followed by the iron age. Iron age is the last prehistoric period (beginning c. 1100 bc, lasting until c. 800 bc) Defined as period before widespread development of writing. Dates for the development of bronze vary across the mediterranean, depending on the culture. Therefore, there is a degree of regional variation in dating the bronze age. Archaeologists have periodized this long chunk of time, i. e. subdivided it. Early, middle, & late bronze age (eb,mb,lb) The results of refinements in dating excavated data through accumulation (i. e. getting more & more data) & through careful study. Egypt: great pyramids at giza & the sphinx at giza. Period bce = calculated in reverse (countdown) 5th century is the 400s (432,404 bce etc. )
