Cilissa calls out clytemnestra on her fake sorrow. Choral songs moving from myth to direct engagement with the plot. Clytemnestra tries to convince orestes not to kill her by saying she nurtured him. Orestes can now go against his mother. Clytemnestra is killed, thanks to pylades" words. Chorus stages wit the rightness" of orestes" justice. Clytemnestra thought she was doing the gods work. Orestes says he has seen justice through, and thinks everything is okay. Orestes is over taken by something no one else see"s, it"s enough to drive him mad. He see"s the furies (ugly goddess women) they swarm around him. The furies said they would not haunt him if he avenges his father, so he doesn"t understand why they are there.
