Books 8 he reveals his identity which leads books 9 to 12 talking about his great tale of the troy war and how he survived, what he seen and has lost in that great war. Culture and nature is pulled up where ever he went. The cicones: stripped of heroic grandeur, defeat because of over-reaching. The lotus-eaters: problematic hospitality: detaining their guests, those who eat that flower, forget everything and never want to go home again.
