Paris = recreating the origins of the war. Tapestry immortalizes her place in the war showing glory, or the tapestry shows her guilt. Other men see helen in ambiguous way, impossible situation. Women praised for beauty on one hand but blamed as soon as it causes a problem. Beautiful prize shown just before start of war. Paris is clearly not ready for the fight. Aphrodite asks helen to go to paris.
