Having to start from scratch and build up over and over. No fixed canon : schechner"s fundamentals of performance studies. Examine how mediums are different or differentiate between each other (example: tv shows/networks have changed in many ways. People do not watch the same channels or programs anymore. It may have similar messages but are dissimilar in the ways they approach certain issues. The responses of the audiences differ as well) (example: the way we watch, see, or listen has changed with the rise of social media/media technologies. The texts of performance studies are regarded as practices, events, and behaviours rather than objects or things. Interpretations are continually adapting, phrases to relate or describe. Connections to a particular moment from a personal standpoint. Thinking about where it is being staged, who is the audience, what is surrounding the area, etc: time 2.
