Document Summary

Celebrities should have minimal control over the use of their image by third parties. According to conroy (2012), a person"s persona can be profitable, on account of an underwriting that convinces customers to purchase a specific item. So, it is not surprise that famous figures would want to protect their identities, as their image is a source of income for themselves. Though one can argue that celebrities should know what they are signing up for when they become famous, privacy even for celebrities is necessary. Although many celebrities post images of themselves on social media for many to see and access, third party companies should not be eligible to profit off of the use of these pictures without permission. If a company of a product or service utilizes an image to increase sales, they are exploiting the celebrity.
