Inventor of the world wide web, the basic ingredients. In 1989 , worked at the cern laboratory ( european organization for nuclear research) Developed the http communication protocol, allowing communication over the internet. Won many awards including british knighthood in 2004 and the turing award in 2016. Vast collection of interconnect information accessible through the internet. Uniform resource locators (urls) - label and name that web sources are identified by. Hypertext transfer protocol (http) - the protocol that web pages follow. Web pages are written using the hypertext markup language (html) Markup means that there are tabs/markup to allow for formatting and styling of the data. Hypertext means that there are links to items outside of the document, to other parts of net. Documents, called web pages contain links to other units of information, inside and outside the document. A wysiwyg editor ( what you see is what you get) allows you to change html files through the rendered page.
