The truthfulness of vision according to states of mind: bits and ways we can influence or change our states of mind. Metaphor of making a connection of touching someone, of being touched emotionally. Blind man is helping the narrator find a way to articulate something. What does this have to do with cathedrals: the cathedral is an explicit metaphor about religious observation. It starts with religion and observations of religion. The narrator is blocked because of historical knowledge of cathedrals themselves. Something has happened to him so that he no longer feels that he is limited in his head. The house being a representation of a larger space.
