Death of a salesman and yellow wallpaper: only thing she can do is look at the wallpaper. Becomes her life: she creeps around the wallpaper. Background: setting- brooklyn in 1940"s, fragile seeming house. Surrounded by apartment buildings: sense of suffocation, stage, transparent walls, mingling of past and present, much of the play happens in willy"s mind, characters, willy loman- traveling salesman, over 60 years old. Struggling: linda loman- supportive, looks up to him, biff loman- older son, now 34 years old and is floundering, still finding himself . Was a big shot in high school: harold/ happy - younger son, doing better off, has a steady job and plenty of girlfriends. But is still somewhat lost: themes, dreams (american dream, will and linda share dreams, but they have not been fulfilled, what does it mean to be a success, parents and children, husbands and wives, depression and loneliness.
