Like artists, skaters play a role in the gentrification of urban spaces. Excellent mayors, they are often represented as good marginal groups vs. imagined violent criminals. Municipalities and corporations microscopically study skateboarding practices so that they can figure out how to secure urban spaces against non-selected public use.
