Lab 5 assessment: mechanical dissection and modelling (solid and simulation) Tutorial 5 assessment: mixed gear-train design + sketching/engineering drawings. Nov 28-30: no labs, no tutorials, epic open for printing. Nov. 30 is the last day for epic. Project interviews: december 1,2,5,6,7 during the regular lab time: come 30 mins early. Dynamic simulation: recall: first draw a rough sketch, derived from a text description. Do some rough calculations: then you can place it into inventor, constrain fully, but have set constraints on the parts you desire to move. Component 1 is worm: z- axis, origin, x-axis. Component 2 is rack: z- axis, origin, x-axis. Note: we will need to have the project fully constrained, with 0 degrees of freedom. Then, some degrees of freedom need to be suppressed, and we apply rotational and linear elements to the assembly.
