The organisms (currents generations) able to meet its own needs but without interfering with future generations needs. Different roles that need to be met at are: recycling of nutrients in the ecosystems. The finite amount of compounds that is available to them: each ecosystem needs to be able to recycle. The population will be equal to the amount of resources available. Fossil fuels example: we are using more of it than it can be replaced. We are using it as the main source of energy. It"s a geological possible that takes millions of years and we are using it too much in the last 250 years. And we are far from finding a replacement to take its place.
