Distance decay: interaction between locations declines as the distance between them increases (the decline of an activity or function with increasing distance). Friction of distance: the inhibiting (limiting) effect of distance on interactions. How long does it take you to walk there; for example, if you have to walk it increases the friction of distance, however if you drive there it decreases the friction of distance. Accessibility & collectivity: critical for the nature and level of spatial interaction. Accessibility: the ease with which distance can be crossed (how easily can we cover distance) Connectivity: the tangible & intangible ways that places are connected.
