Goods producing vs. services: goods producing sector, primary: identi cation and extraction of raw materials, agriculture, forestry, mining, shing, etc, secondary: transformation into nished products the manufacturing or industrial sector, manufacturing, processing, construction, etc. B. service sector: tertiary: distribution and servicing of goods consumer (personal) and business services, merchants, grocers, retailers, mechanics, professors, doctors, lawyers. Sometimes, this is delineated into tertiary (personal), quaternary (business), and quinary (government) Levels of economic development are often correlated with the relative size of these different sectors: less developed economies: primary and secondary sectors, more developed economies: more concentrated on service sector; 85% is in the service sector.
