Geography is the study of patterns and processes on the earth s surface. Greek words: geo (earth) and graphe (to write about). Physical geography is the study of patterns and processes of the physical world in the physical environment (geology, ecology) Human geography is the study of patterns and processes of the human world in the social environment (economy, politics, behaviour). Human geography explains the significant meanings attached to the places where these activities take place. Geography involves description, explanation, and interpretation of human processes and interactions within a given environment. Human patterns describe the people and places. Processes are explained that produce these patterns. Interpreting the human patterns and the meanings behind it.
