Geography: the study of patterns and processes on the earths surface. Study of patterns and processes of the physical world. Mountains, rocks, rivers, glaciers, soils, weather, and climate: physical geography, physical environment (landforms, climate, hydrology, geology, ecology, etc. , human geography. Study of patterns and processes of the human world. Globalization: the ways (and degree) that the worlds economies (and cultures) are interconnected. Development: the causes of global inequalities in economic and social development. Primary (resource extraction): the patterns (and consequences) of resource extraction activity. Secondary (manufacturing): the factors that manufactures consider iin locating their business. Tertiary (services & retail): the so called wal-mart effect. Cities: the study of cities and their organization & functions. Population: the nature and consequences of global population growth and migration. Perceptions of space will change as you go on (eg. campus is big or small). Location: refers to a particular position in space: absolute (mathematical) location: latitude and longitude co-ordinates using an arbitrary mathematical grid.
