Opec a group of oil producing nations that agree to work together as a group, slowed/stopped trading oil with north america, brazil and a few others. This greatly impacted car manufactures, policy enacted to make fuel efficient cars. Also started the american consciousness of being energy efficient. With increased ppb, more remote areas are now worthwhile. Conflict in the middle east greatly effects ppb, fear drives the price up .
