Economic context of the social geographic of cities (cid:523)since (cid:883)97(cid:882)"s(cid:524) Black families versus white families and the wealth gap (comparing the reality versus perceptions) There as wide gaps in the differences between households, but also there is a gap between what white americans thought they earn versus what they actually earn. Polarization: (a sharp division, as of a population or group, into opposing factions) Graphs can either cluster in each end like we normally see but now we can also see these graphs with additional curves creating cluster in each end (up-down, then back up-down, kind of like a sin graph) Portion of families living in high, middle, and low-income neighbourhoods: Large portion of middle-income neighbourhoods, however slightly going down as time goes on. We begin the see a shift into other income classes. We see a increase in both high and low income neighbourhoods which creates the decline of the middle income class.
