Socialism, marxism, feminism: at mid century liberalism was referred to as the championing of individual rights, private property and free markets, liberalism faced problems because the nature of the society was changing with industrial revolutions. Many of the new large working poor class did not see any actual tangible benefits of liberalism, and few of the middle class got very involved with politics and kept distanced from the working class. As a result, new ideologies were born across the political spectrum. Breach of fundamental principles: middle class liberals refused lower class civil liberties. They suppressed strikes and other attempts to gain rights: some liberals supported income taxes (which before was seen as a serious invasion of the right to private property). So some groups of liberals tried to go around this problem while others remained hypocritical. Therefore, the liberal ideology did not benefit everyone and the progress to modernity. They questioning the liberals and working class issues.
