Due to 80% of money being used for necessities, lack of provision for leisure, savings and education. Higher class however was able to do all these things. Leads to increase in diseases such as cholera. 1960s: jews given legal rights, (given emancipation/ have some rights as others) Made living trade or travelling salesman or money lenders. After emancipation, begin to use skills gained to abolish dominance in market and retailers make shifts. Would invest in education a money lender create banks money. Still unable to join military efforts as officers due to anti-sematism. Jews able to teach in university, but were seen as incompetent to teach german lit, classics. More needs met/professional interactions, out no personal interact (mainly upper class) Believe that jews more evil because they killed jesus (lower class) Resentment against jews for ability to move up in social class/ upward mobility.
