Maintaining the status quo was on the mind of the rich in crescentwood (still is) By may 1919, jobs decreased (no jobs for people returning home from war, except railway) Call for strike across the city, unions held vote (black and white marbles) 11,000 agreed, 500 were against strike. May 15th at 11am the strike began 30,000 people involved, 2/3 were non-union workers: by the afternoon, the streets were quiet, behind doors, people against the strike formed the committee of the 1,000. Strike became war of words; committee of 1,000 accused the newcomers.
