Care (ccc) is a safe and effective way of improving physical and psychological functioning (weze et al. pg. 8) Six year study, 300 participants, four treatments in six weeks, pre and post comparison of physical and psychological functioning. Found there was significant improvement both physically and psychologically. Improvements = stress reduction, pain relief, increased ability to cope, increased health rating. Greatest improvement amongst those with the most severe symptoms: more specific benefits = anxiety reduction, increased emotional well being. Burn patients indicated lower pain and anxiety levels and had significantly elevated salivary iga (increased hormonal immunological functioning) and lowered systolic blood pressure (increased relaxation) Reduced depression, greater mobility, less sleep disturbances, less reliance on medication, participation in old activities.
