Insulin (exogenous: type of insulin depends of insulin delivery system, best practices include: October 16th, 2017: basal = background" insulin that addresses hepatic glucose production, bolus = secreted in response to energy intake and glucose, used to be basal (cloudy) and bolus (clear, hypoglycemia is the most adverse effect of insulin. T1dm considerations: basal-bolus (prandial) insulin regimens (mdi) or csii are best insulin regimens for. Insulin regimens should be tailored to the individual: all individuals with t1dm should be counselled about the risk, prevention and treatment of hypoglycemia, considerations re: use of t2dm for t1dm. Pathophysiology of t2dm: type 1 is an autoimmune process where people stop making their own insulin, type 2 diabetes, not making enough insulin but also so many factors are involved making it complex.
