Health sciences vs. health studies: similarities and differences. Health sciences: health sciences (medicine) - a collection of disciplines that support and constitutes medicine such as, occupational categories i. e. doctors, nurses, occupational therapy, pharmacology, medical categories i. e. genetics, immunology, clinical specialties (services) i. e. paediatrics, cardiology, family practice. Methods used in health studies: quantitative: (statistics- number crunching, health records and statistics, census data, surveys (questionnaires, qualitative: (soft methods, interviews, focus groups, participants observation, document analysis (journals, letters etc) Being critical and thinking critical: thinking deeply about pressing social issues that negatively affect individuals and populations, as researchers we should be humble and re ective, a positive voice for positive change, considering peer reviewed theories that inform research.
